Hello Beach!!

Ugh, it's the end of a gorgeous weekend. This weekend went by way too fast. You know it did when you find yourself spending Sunday night counting down the days 'till Friday. The warm weather was a wonderful treat, and I can only hope that it stays like this for awhile! After a morning of raking leaves on Saturday, Erik and I headed out to the shore to enjoy the sunshine. We went to Rocky Neck State Park, Mystic and ended the day watching the sun set in Misquamicut. There were lots of people sunbathing at Rocky Neck. Now, I know it was practically 80 out, but I just couldn't get past the whole sunbathing it CT in April thing. It just seemed odd. But anyways, we stayed there for about an hour and then headed over to Mystic to grab dinner. I have been on a huge salad kick lately and can't seem to get enough greens, so we searched the Mystic travel center's menu display and found a restaurant with both good seafood and good salads! Yummy! We had a great dinner and then headed down the road in search of a pretty spot to watch the sun set. We ended up going to the state beach in Misquamicut, RI. I have been going to Misquamicut since I was little, and I don't recall ever seeing starfish on the beach...but they were there on Saturday! They were pretty beat-up looking, so I am guessing they came in with the storm last week. I was able to take a few pictures of them and thought this one came out cool. I am excited that good weather is here and Summer will be here before we know it. Hopefully this weekend's beach trip was the first of many great beach trips this season!!

Pretty flowers...

Here is a picture of some Crocuses we have growing in the backyard. There are about 100 in bloom right now scattered around the whole house. They keep popping up everywhere!

Spring has sprung!!

Happy Friday! Today was such a beautiful day! When I got home from work I decided to do a bit of spring cleaning in our backyard. The sun was shining and the birds were singing...it was so peaceful.

While clearing out dead leaves and branches I discovered so many plants coming to life in our yard! The people who owned the house before us loved to garden, so I know there will be lots plants coming back to life over the next few weeks...which also means I will be spending lots of time cleaning up the flower beds. I can't wait to post more pictures once things start to bloom. Taking pictures of flowers is probably my favorite thing to do when I have spare time. I'm not quite sure what type of plants are in the photos I took today-- I guess I'll have to wait for them to grow some more to find out! If anyone out there has a green thumb and can help me identify plants I would be very grateful!!

Happy Birthday Jake & Rudy!

This Friday is Jake and Rudy's 2nd birthday. Time has sure flown by! It seems like yesterday they were just tiny little puppies you could fit in the palm of your hand. I have decided to post a few pictures of them from the past two years to help celebrate!

Today Mom and Dad loaded them up into the car to take them for their two-year check-up at Dr. Bach's. They are doing great!

At the last weigh in the fall, Jake was 135lbs. and Rudy was 130lbs. Dad called to let me know about their appointment and when he told me to "sit down" before he told me the news about the big weigh-in, I knew I was in for a surprise. For those of you who don't know, Jake and Rudy are giant dogs. They aren't your average German Shepard/Lab Mix. As of today, Jake & Rudy now weigh the same...a whopping 143lbs. (EACH!!) Yikes! Jake is so tall and strong, and Rudy...well, he is just Rudy. Anyways, Happy Birthday to the best "Dog-Boys" in the world!

Into each life some rain must fall...

Be still, sad heart, and cease repining; Behind the clouds the sun is shining; Thy fate is the common fate of all, Into each life some rain must fall, Some days must be dark and dreary.
--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Rain, rain, go away....i miss blue skies

I hate the rain...I know that "April showers bring May flowers", and I love flowers, but I am so sick of the rain. We had about 1 hour without rain today. It's hard not to mope around all day when the skies are dark and dreary. The good old weather man says we are supposed to have sunny skies and 70 degree weather next Monday...lets see if he's right.

Vacation Planning...

All this rainy weather is making me think of how much I miss summer...which is then making me think of VACATION!! I have the first two weeks of July off this year and we are having the hardest time figuring out where to go on vacation! As most of you know, I can be pretty indecisive. (okay..really indecisive) I miss the beach terribly so we will most likely be going to North Carolina for a week...but I'm not sure where we should go for the remainder of my time off! I'm thinking of doing some day trips and would love to go up to Cape Cod, but it's hard to plan this year because Erik will be working while I'm on vacation. He just picked up another class at Manchester Community College and will be teaching Monday and Wednesday nights from June 4th to July 27th. It's good that he is teaching a class over the summer, but I'm bummed that it's during my time off! Oh well, life goes on and I'm sure we will figure something out, but if anyone has any good ideas for neat day trips around New England please let me know!!

The long road...

Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.

Spring!

Spring has returned and that means I will be out and about with my camera more often...HOORAY!! I enjoy taking pictures of everything and have been called a "shutterbug" numerous times! I love taking pictures of flowers and have been excited to see new things pop up in the garden each day. This is a photo of a plant called "Hens & Chicks".

Let the blogging begin!

Well, here goes nothing...I am going to attempt to blog! I can't promise you I will post on a regular basis and I can't promise you any of my posts will be fun and exciting...but hopefully this will help me keep in touch with my fellow blogging friends! Wish me luck!
